TO DO
OPERA
of course. Architect Jorn Utzon! Go and see. More than One million cream coloured Swedish tiles! It doesn’t have really a bad angle !
PARCS
TOURIST AREA
the bridge and enter the old town glancing as you go at the statue of St. George vanquishing the dragon, keep going through the hordes of tourists, BUY a fine jaquard Walking in Sydney is nice. Parcs are: nice people are calm.
They may play chess or listen to music. The tourist area on the other side of the opera after the Sydney Harbour bridge is crowed but not unpleasant and we saw a nice Vuitton exhibition.
TRAIN
Easy to understand and clean and easy to take.
VICTORIAN HOUSES
Go to Paddington area. Plenty of houses from XIXth century.
HARBOUR. Darling Harbour: the area around the harbour is full of beautiful and modern buildings You réalise then how Australia is rich even prosperous!
HOTELS
I do recommend the QT hotel: nice atmosphere, nice breakfast and nice people. They help you with everything and there is no tipping at all. In Australia
it is considered that people are paid enough by the employers.
It’s really agreable in particular when you arrive from the United States.
I went to The Trendy hotel: OLD CLARE: A bit of style but dirty, almost, very dirty.
The terrasse is dirty, the windows of my room had not been cleaned for ages.
The swimming pool on the roof top is very very small but noy too bad.
Breakfast is not good ( we took always breakfast elsewhere) and the staff is unequally charming.
RESTAURANTS
I do recommend an Italian restaurant with a nice terrasse and a delicious bread called Cucina Porto not far from QT Hotel. I also liked Mister Wong Good and chic (huge team of staff, impressive wine list) and I liked all the restaurant in the small streets around the Old Clare in the Chippendale area.
Be careful sometimes you have to bring your wine.
They are wineries all around.
BOAT
I took a ferry to go to Manly. You go out of the gulf and see the vast ocean.
You may dream about how long the journey by boat from Europe was ! All the more so when you need 24 hours by plane to reach Sydney from Paris
But as I tried to say it’s worth going and visiting that city.
