TO DO

HOTELS

My favorite is the Flora, not far from San Marco (Vaporetto stop at San Marco Mattarello), the hotel is run by the Romanelli family form the beginning. Prices are correct, rooms are rather small but there is a charming and fresh garden and an excellent breakfast. All the staff is kind and helpful. If not at the Lido you have the Excelsior. (Nice palace) Boat service to San Marco is almost all day and you can relax at a family restaurant at the Lido. If not you have the famous Danieli (service is medium ) or the Gritti (chic).

Food

There are so many and most of the time the service is quite nice. I would recommend  Da Raffaele (very good and nice people) (try fegato alla veneziana), Ai Assasini (gourmet but small portions including for the wine), L’Ombra Del Leone (on the canal, nice terrasse, veal milanese delicious and big), Lineadombra (on the canal, rather chic, some Wine at 35.000 euros, rather good). I would also mention: Al Covino, Osteria Giorgione da Masa, Trattoria da Jonny and Trattoria da Remigio. If you want to try a japanese restaurant go to Koenji (no air conditionning) (solid food)..

BURANO

If you go there for the charming and coulourful houses or after a visit to Murano go to Trattoria da Romano (excellent) (try linguine alle vongole).

TORCELLO

Not far from Burano and the church is famous for its mosaiques (pictures not allowed!).

Drinks

Go to the Gritti for a Martini Dry or to The Caravelle for the fun and the drinks.

GLASSES

Go absolutely to Murano and visit BERENGO workshop. Nice atmosphere and beautiful artistic realisations. Collaboration with many artist like AI Weiwei, Wurm, Christine Kelle, Arne Quinze… Arte TV  made a story about them recently. Buy !

SHOPPING

Go to Fondaco dei Tedeschi. So many brands on five floors and a nice view from the terrace (need reservation).

BUY Bags in paper at Bottega Di Teresa San Marco 2973.
