The 60th International Art Exhibition runs from Saturday 20 April to Sunday 24 November 2024, curated by the Brasilian Adriano Pedrosa currently artistic director at the MASP Sao Paolo.
USA
US Pavillon curated by Jeffrey Gibson: « The space in which to place me » transforms the US Pavillon into an embodiment of Gibson’s radically inclusive vision for the future: a space in which indigenous art and a broad spectrum of cultural expressions and identities are central to the human experience.
PRADA
Fondation Prada: Monte di Pieta is a deep dive into the notion of debt at the root of human society and the primary vehicle by which political and cultural power is exercised. Historically a crossroads of commercial and artistic exchange and intermingling, the city of Venice is an ideal context for exploring the relationships between these complex topics ans the deep dynamics of contemporary society. (The Palazzo in which the future queen of Cyprus was born in 1454 hosted for more than 100 years the Mount of Piety of Venice).
MOORE
Australian Pavillon: Lion d’or for best national proposal. Radical installation by Archie Moore (born 1970). The arborigen artist has written with a white chalk on black walls till the ceiling an enormous genealogic tree from people from the first countries coming back to more than 650.000 years. The center of the room is occupied by thousands of administrative documents relating to drama caused by governemental policies.
KOSOVO
Kosovo Pavillon: Special mention from the Jury to that pavillon and its sculptural installation as an evocation
to the economical inequalities endured by women.
BELGIUM
Belgian Pavillon: Petticoat Government is a multidiciplinary scenario based
on existing folkloric giants from various communities in Belgium France ans Spain.
LIMINAL
Liminal an exhibition created by Pierre Huyghe in close collaboration with curator Ann Stenne. Huyghe transforms Punta delle Dogana into a dynamic sensitive mileu perpetually evolving. The exhibition is a transitory state inhabited by human and non human creatures and becomes the site of formation of subjectivities that are constantly learning changing.
