TRAVELLING

I have always been a great traveller: one of those who leave with the guitar slung on the back and who play in harmony with the people I meet, sometimes before big crowds, and sometimes for a long time.

PROJECT

This project comes from a song by Nina Simone «Lilac Wine» from the album «Wild Is The Wind» (1966) which is about a bittersweet love affair.

BIRTH

The project was conceived during a trip in Southeast Asia. I was in the Mekong Delta, not far from the Ho Chi Minh Trail, on a huge beach. There was a traditional boat race between the villages. I started playing a tune and finally I played all night.

COMPOSING

I didn’t necessarily have the idea of an album in mind. I compose freely, without constraint and without restriction. Anything that passes through my head! It’s like automatic writing. In addition to this, I constantly record sounds that, in the end, mingle with my music. I wanted a sober feeling, with one voice, one guitar, and one cello.

TRANS

It is important to me that the original feeling doesn’t get lost. I like that the state of trance can be felt, that there is something

not conscious and that we can be carried away by the sounds.
