HOTEL

I stayed in the Hilton for more than a week and after that I move to the Intercontinental which is very very big. Staff is much more friendly and restaurants are better! However the hotel is less luxurious than the Hilton.

SWIMMING.

There is not so much to do in the main island besides enjoying the pool and the weather and buying things at the market is nice.

MOOREA.

Leaving by boat (a ferry boat) to Moorea is a good idea all the more so if you have the opportunity to rent a boat with the appropriate staff. I did that and i do recommend it. You will go behind the corral barrier ans swim with the sharks YES really Then you will come back in the lagoon and swim with other sharks, turtles and rays. You can feed the rays not may be the sharks which are not interested in you anyhow ! You will have an heavenly day. If you want to stay more, besides all the hotels,  there is a boat that you can rent or a private house where you may stay. BORA BORA

If you stay long enough do go to Bora Bora. It’s one hour plane from Papeete and the lagoon is really worth seing. We did stay 2 days there and of course you have to take a boat and go in the lagoon. There is a place which is wonderful: you swim in a garden of corals of various colours! I never saw something like that. Our skeaper was one of the grand son of Marlon Brando but he always referred to his maori roots and never to his american blood. His tattoos were truly maori and he commented a lot to the maori legacy for tattoos lost because of the French occupation. Tattoos area big thing there!

ACCOMODATION

We were in a charming but not luxuriuous hotel called Maitai Bora Bora.
You also have plenty of 5 stars hotels but the rule is that you can not have more than 5000 rooms in the total in the island in order to keep the beauty of the place. Another rule is that all houses and rooms have to keep the style of the traditionnal houses . The advantage is that you dont have uggly brand new modern and big buildinsg On the other hands it looks a bit all the same and the only difference is that lobbies can be more or less beautiful The Four Seasons is impressive.

SHARKS

Again you swim with sharks, turtles and rays Again there is no danger However our skipper told us not to swim near the rocks at night because sharks may be hungry sometimes! Now you know it.
